The Petra Club, St. Anthony’s College, Shillong, was founded in 2025 to inspire curiosity in Earth sciences and encourage learning beyond the classroom. The club provides a space for hands-on activities, teamwork and community outreach, guided by the values of sustainability and Earth stewardship.
The Petra Club will help students build technical skills, leadership qualities and a spirit of collaboration through seminars, workshops and field trips. It also promotes awareness on climate change, disaster preparedness and sustainable resource use, preparing members to become responsible caretakers of the planet.

The Hammer represents geology as a field science, emphasizing exploration, investigation and the practical tools of a geoscientist. It signifies strength, precision and the pursuit of knowledge through hands-on learning.
The 20 Stars encircling the logo symbolize the 20 branches of geology, reflecting the vastness and diversity of Earth sciences. Together, they highlight the club’s commitment to providing a holistic understanding of the subject.
