- 19th -21st January: During the lead-up to Meghalaya's 51st State Day, the North East India Archive organised an extensive photo exhibition showcasing over 400 images. The exhibition included family photographs, vintage landscape photographs, and works by two renowned elderly photographers of Meghalaya, Ahmed Hossain and Aly Shadap. The Department of Information and Public Relations of the Meghalaya Government provided financial support for this exhibition.
- 30th January-14th February: The Department of English organized Content Writing Course through the online mode. The course was open to all and as many as 70 participants joined the course from various parts of the region.
- 21st -23rd February: A Field Workshop on Geological Mapping in Meghalaya Plateau was organised by Department of Geology in collaboration with regional training division, Geological Survey of India, NER, Shillong. The workshop was organised to help and guide the students of the department for the basic techniques of geological mapping and give them first-hand experience in the field through 2 days of intense field training for 6th Semester and one day field training for 4th Semester. The resource persons were Dr. Bashab N. Mahanta, Director GSITI Shillong and Dr. N. Surdas Singh, Senior geologist, GSITI, Shillong.
- 24th February: The Department of Statistics, St. Anthony’s College, in collaboration with Little Flower Degree and PG College, Hyderabad, Telangana, organised a national seminar on the topic “Parametric Inference of the Loss based process capability index CPM for Normal Distribution” and “Time Truncated attribute control chart for the Rayleigh distributed quality characteristic and beyond”. The resource persons were Dr. Sanku Dey, Dept of Statistics, St. Anthony’s College and Dr. Mahendra Saha, Dept of Statistics, Central University of Rajasthan.
- 28th February: On account of the National Science Day 2023, the Department of Physics organized an online drawing and painting competition on the theme “Global Science for Global-Wellbeing”. The competition was organized to commemorate the discovery of the Raman Effect by Sir Chandrasekhara Venkata Raman, an Indian Physicists, on 28th of February 1928. The competition was open for all the students of St. Anthony’s College regardless of their semesters and departments. A total of 13 students participates from different department.
- 7th March: The St. Anthony's College Tourism Club (SACTC) organized a Photo Exhibition on the occasion of International Women's Day on the 7th March 2023 at the college basketball court. The theme of the exhibition was “Women are the real architects of society”. The event was inaugurated by Dr. Amanda C. Tongper, Assistant Professor, Department of English in the presence of the club members and other students of the college. The exhibition featured a wide range of images, from documentary-style photographs to artistic and abstract interpretations on the theme of women's empowerment. The photographs depicted the women of Shillong in a variety of contexts and the different aspects of their daily lives, from the struggles and challenges they face to their achievements and successes.
- 8th March: The Department of Value Education organized a talk for the hostellers of Mama Margaret Hall to celebrate the International Women’s Day. The theme was “Beyond your Limits”.
- 9th March: The International Women’s Day, 2023 was organized by the Women’s Anti-Harassment Cell, St. Anthony’s College Shillong in collaboration with the St. Anthony’s College Centre for Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Incubation on the 9th of March, 2023. The Program eventuated in Walloston Conference Hall of the college. Ms. Dasumarlin Majaw, a former student of the institution, now currently an entrepreneur and owner of her firm, Smoky Falls Tribe Coffee, Shillong and Ms. Ayushi Chaudhary, a student of the sixth semester of the Mass Communication department who is also a food and lifestyle blogger as well as owner of a bakery ‘B for were the speakers of the event. More than a hundred female students of the college and students from other institutions attended the programme.
- 11th-12th March: The Department of Political Science and SACMUN organised an Intra-College Model United Nations Conference, 2023 to inculcate in the students the art of democratic practices of debating and find resolutions to problems grappling the world by means of a consensus and to sensitise students on current issues of local, national and global concerns and encourage them to be participant by way of formulating opinions and share ideas through debates and interactions. The conference was chaired by Ms. Ananya Talukdar, North-Eastern circuit MUN, Mr. Meshuwa Kupar Mawthoh, Meghalaya MUN (MMUN), Mr. David Das, North-East circuit MUN and Ms. Uzma Farhat, SACMUM.
- 16th March: The Department of Chemistry, St. Anthony’s College Shillong in collaboration with the Department of Chemistry, Kukiakose Elias College, organized a national webinar on “Research and Publication Ethics in Chemistry”. The Resource Person was Dr. Rahul Narayanan, Research Assistant Professor, Department of Chemistry, SRMIST, Chennai.
- 17th-24th March: The college organized a college event for the students of the college. The theme for this year’s college event was “Tamasa”. The event was inaugurated by the Principal of the College, Dr. Br. Albert. L. Dkhar. The week-long event had many indoor and outdoor events. The final day concluded on 24 March where the retiring college teachers were felicitated by the Principal. Awards were also presented to the students of NCC, NSS and athletes who won national and state awards.
- 18th March: The North East India Archive with support of SPF and Department of Information and Public Relations, Government of Meghalaya spearheaded the digitisation of the first Khasi film, Ka Synjuk Ri Ki Laiphew Syiem (The Alliance of Thirty Chiefs) in the year 2021-2022. During the Meghalaya International Film Festival 2023, this film was screened, in its entirety, publically after 35 years. After the screening of the film, a brief panel discussion was held where family members of the filmmaker and actors were present. This was the Archive’s first project of digitising a celluloid film and from what we know, Meghalaya’s first film restoration project. The Archive also produced a short documentary on the life and works of the Dr. Hamlet Bareh Ngapkynta, the writer and director of Ka Synjuk Ri Ki Laiphew Syiem.
- 30th-31st March: The Department of Mizo, St. Anthony’s College in collaboration with the Department of Mizo, Mizoram University organized an International Seminar of the writings of Mafaa Hauhnar. The seminar was attended by various students and scholars of different institution. The seminar was funded by The Department of Arts and Culture, Govt. of Mizoram.
- 26th-30th June: The Department of Value Education & IQAC, SAC for collaborating with Santvana Mitra, Bengaluru and Don Bosco Higher Education Network, India (DBHEI) hosted a Five-Day Faculty Development Programme. The theme of the programme Make a Difference as Educators (MaDE) aimed to enhance the capacity of the participants as catalysts and influencers, guides and mentors of young people within and outside the campuses. Most Rev. Victor Lyngdoh, Archbishop, Shillong Archdiocese and Rev. Fr. Januarius Sangma SDB, Provincial Guwahati, Salesian Province & President, Don Bosco Higher Education Network India (DBHEI) for graced the Valedictory Programme. The animators of the programme were Naveen Lobo, Jini Lobo and Dhanya Paul.
- 27th June: The Music Club, Department of Music, SAC & NSS, SAC successfully organised an Outreach Programme at God’s Dream Home Outreach, Pynthorumkhrah, a home for a hundred and twelve children, where they were able to spend time with them in prayer, songs, dances and games.
- 18th-22nd July: In preparation of the implementation of the NEP 2020, the IQAC of the College organised a 5-day FDP on Bloom’s Taxonomy and OBE, in an online mode. Dr. Aloysius Edwards, of Kristu Jayanti College, Bengaluru, was the resource person. The Faculty Development Programme (FDP) was focused on Bloom's Taxonomy and Outcome Based Education (OBE). This programme aims to equip and enhance the teaching practices of the faculty with the necessary tools and knowledge to promote effective student learning outcomes.
- 26th July: The IQAC and IPR (R&D) cell, St. Anthony’s College, Shillong, in collaboration with State Council of Science Technology & Environment (SCSTE), Meghalaya organized a workshop on Intellectual Property Rights and Innovation. The resource persons were, Mr. Banteibor Lyngkhoi Project Coordinator, SCSTE Meghalaya, Mr. Siddhartha Devnath IP Professional & Expert, Patent Design Trademark and Copyright Services, Panjabari, Guwahati and Dr. A. K. Singh Department of Law School of Social Sciences Coordinator, Intellectual Property Rights Cell, NEHU. The topics that were covered were Overview of IPR, Criteria, nature of IP rights, Novelty Search, filling procedure, impact of innovation etc.
- 17th August: The Drama Club, Department of English initiated its autumn session by participating in the Short Play Competition category in the Rock The Ribbon, Youth Fest 2023 organised by the collaborating forces of the National AIDS Control Organisation (NACO) and the Meghalaya AIDS Control Society (MACS) in association with college student bodies. The Youth Fest was a 2-day event (17th - 18th August, 2023), hosting a range of competitions for college and school students to participate, incentivised primarily by awareness and destigmatisation. The Short Play Competition was held at the Soso Tham Auditorium, State Central Library, Shillong. The St. Anthony's College NSS Unit formed the organising and facilitator body of the competition under the esteemed guidance of the professor co-ordinators of the unit.
- 29th August: On account of the 25th Jubilee Celebration of the Biochemistry Department, the faculty members along with the students of the Department under the aegis of the Amino’s Club had organized an “Inter-Departmental Science Exhibition” under the theme ‘Space Exploration’. The exhibition objectives aim to promote interest in learning space science, engaging students in learning new facts and inventions, to explore the creativity of the students and also forces them to think outside the box.
- 31stAugust: As part of its Platinum Jubilee celebration on the theme “Thriving in Uncertainty”, the Department of commerce in collaboration with PRIME Meghalaya and SACCEII, St. Anthony’s College organized a one-day programme on A Talk on Entrepreneurship – “Know Your Alumni”. Mr. Macmillan Khyriem, a 2012 Alumni from the department was the Resource Person for the event. Mr. Macmillan is an entrepreneur in the field of Rural Entrepreneurship whose areas of business is Homestay services and poultry farming.
- 20th September: The Inter Faith Committee of the College organized an all-faith prayer service which was held in the Basketball Court of the College. The message for the day was delivered by Rev. Fr. A. L. Jose, Rector, SAC and Prof. J. S. Shylla, Department of English. Prayers were led by students from religious committee.
- 2nd October: A state level online quiz was organized by the department of Zoology as part of its endeavour to commemorate the World Animal Day and the National Wildlife Week 2023. The theme for the Quiz was “Animal Diversity and Conservation.”
- 7th October: A one-day National Seminar on “Artificial Intelligence: Technological Opportunities and Socio-Ethical Challenges” was organized by the department of Computer Science and the Department of Value Education under the aegis of the IQAC, St. Anthony’s College Shillong, in collaboration with Indian Institute of Science and Religion (IISR) Delhi.
- 7th November: The department of Statistics conducted a one-day national seminar on “Recent Trends” in an online format. Dr. Pooja Pandey, IAS, the Director of Census Operations, Govt. of India, served as the chief guest, while Prof. Debasis Kundu form the department of Mathematics and Statistics, IIT, Kanpur, was the keynote speaker.
- 28th February: The Foundation Stone ceremony of the Rev. Fr. Joseph Bacchiarello Annexe was held at the Site of the Annexe (Old Parking Lot). Shri Conrad K. Sangma Hon’ble Chief Minister of Meghalaya was the Chief Guest at the event. Rev. Fr. Paul Olphindro Lyngkot, SDB, Provincial of the Shillong Province blessed the foundation stone and the site as part of the ceremony.
- 8th March: The Women Anti-Harassment Cell, SAC in collaboration with the Meghalaya State Commission for Women, hosted the National Parliament for Women in commemoration of International Women’s Day which evoked an overwhelming response from the invited participants. Ms. Phidalia Toi, Chairperson, Meghalaya State Commission for Women and the esteemed members of the Commission rendered the most valuable assistance for the smooth conduct of the programme. The Resource Persons were Smti. Patricia Mukhim, Editor, Shillong Times; Smti. Mary G T Sangma, IPS, Principal, Police Training School, Umran; Prof. Badaplin War, Department of Khasi, NEHU; Ms. Linza Fenny Syiem, Senior Coach, Directorate of Sports & Youth Affairs, Meghalaya, Ms. Mitali Chandra, IAS, SDO, Sadar, East Khasi Hills Shillong & Ms. Annie Sohtun, Co-ordinator, MSCW.
- 12th March- 10th May: The college events began with the inter-department football match and other events. Some events were conducted on Saturday and few were conducted after classes on weekdays throughout the month of March till May. The College events came to glorious end with the final day on March. The theme of the grand finale was “Meraki”.
- 14th – 16th March: The Department of Geology in collaboration with Geological Survey of India Training Institute, Regional Training Division, North Eastern Region, GSITI (RTDNER), Shillong, conducted a three-day training programme was for the final year 6th Semester students of Department of Geology, St. Anthony’s College, Shillong. On the first day, a lecture on Introduction to Geological Mapping with special reference to Toposheets was given followed by visits to the Geotechnical, and Geochemistry Laboratories and Geological Museum of GSI. On the other two days, Field training to Mairang and Cherrapunji was conducted and guided by Dr B.N Mahanta, Director of GSITI (RTDNER), Shillong and Mr. Hiruj Saikia, Senior Geologist, GSI, Shillong.
- 28th 30th March: An awareness programme was conducted by National Institute of Electronics & Information Technology (NEILIT)and Computer Science department of St. Anthony’s College, Shillong on the topic “Awareness on use of mobile applications, for digital payment, e-government services, IT applications and Cyber security for girls”. The aim of this three-day awareness programme was to create more awareness about the threats that are present in the virtual world of the internet and to enhance students’ knowledge on the various e-facilities such as the e-gadgets available. The resource persons were Mr. Gordan Kynsai Nongkynrih, Scientist C, NEILIT Shillong, Ms. Ngangbam Saritamala Devi Senior Technical Officer NEILIT Shillong, Ms. Sibalin War, Senior Technical Officer NEILIT Shillong, Mr. Bimal D Swer, Senior Technical Officer NEILIT Shillong and Mr. Manbha Khongkhlad, Technical Assistant, NIELIT Shillong.
- 9th April: The Department of Fishery Science in collaboration with NASI, New Delhi and successfully organised a Training cum-Demonstration on “Fish Farming for Livelihood” with an objective to enhance fish farming skills and techniques of local farmers. Dr. S.R. Joshi, Department of Biotechnology, NEHU & Secretary NASI, NER Local Chapter Shillong for initiating the training programme. The Resource Persons were Ms. Vanessa Khyriem, Programme Manager, Fishery Science Department, Govt. of Meghalaya, Profs. Evashisha Wanniang and Wanshaphrang Tiewsoh, Department of Fishery Science, SAC.
- 19th- 21st April: The Department of English, SAC for organized a Three-Day Seminar and Workshop on Research Paper Writing for Undergraduates (Humanities) for 6th Semester students of the Department of English. The Resource Persons were Dr. Quendirisa Kharbuli, North Eastern Hill University (NEHU), Dr. Cherry Kordor Kharshiing, Department of Mass Media, SAC and Dr. Amanda C. Tongper, Department of English, SAC.
- 26th -27th April: A team of our students represented the college at the National Youth Parliament organised by the Xavier Board of Higher Education in India (Tamil Nadu Region) and Fatima College (Autonomous) Madurai in Fatima College Madurai. The six-member team of students Chuweata B. Kashyap (6th Sem. English), Mark Mungray (6th Sem. Pol. Science), Rangina Muchahary (6th Sem. English), Adrian Lara Nongbri (6th Sem. Pol. Science), Manong Jamikham (6th Sem. Biochemistry) & Naorem Chelsia (6th Sem. Pol. Science) representing the College was adjudged the Best Team while one of the team members was adjudged the Best Speaker in the competition held as part of the parliament.
- 26th – 30th April: College Football Team for participated in the Inter-College Football Invitational Tournament organized by Shillong College. The team played three league matches and won in all, and were placed as the Top Team, qualifying them for the Finals. The College Football Team earned the victory trophy and emerged as the Winning Team of the final match against the host college
- 13th -14th May: A Film Odyssey- A Two-day Event of Photograph Exhibition and Film screenings was organised by the Department of Mass Media. The two-day event showcased the 6th semester students’ artistic photographs on day one and day 2 in the Lobby of Wollaston Annexe. The screening of two art films, Path by State’s award-winning filmmaker Bah Pradip Kurbah and Boroxun- Songs for Rain by an alumnus of the Department, Krishna Kanta Borah was on day 2, at the conference hall. Meghalaya’s first female director Simi Khongtiang was the chief guest of the event, along with Pradip Kurbah as the guest of honour.
- 17th May: The Department of Chemistry made an educational tour to Meghalaya State Pollution Control Board, Shillong to expose the Chemistry honours students to the practical applications of the principles of Green Chemistry – its techniques and procedures.
- 18th May: The Department of Value Education, under the aegis of IQAC, St Anthony’s College for organised a Workshop on Yoga Awareness for students of the college. The Resource Person was Ms. Eugenia Davida Hek, Yoga Teacher and Proprietor, Escape Yoga Studio for briefing the student participants about the history of yoga and the benefits that one can receive by practicing yoga, while also clearing myths that surround yoga.
- 18th July: The Department of Physics in collaboration with Centre of Plasma Physics, IPR Sonapur, Assam conducted a one-day workshop on Popularization of Plasma Physics for the students of the department to commemorate “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav”.
- 19th July: The Department of Value Education collaborated with the Indian Academy of Paediatrics, Meghalaya State Branch and successfully conducted One-Day Training Programme on Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR). The training primarily aimed to trained students with basic skills in providing CPR and first aid and how to respond to situations of emergency. The training was provided by training personnel from the Indian Academy of Paediatrics, who provided very beneficial instructions and hands-on training to students on the crucial subject, arming them with certain life-saving techniques.
- 20th-22nd July: The Department of Physics collaborated with the Directorate of Educational Research and Training (DERT), Government of Meghalaya in organising a Three-Day Science Camp for Secondary School Students which witnessed a hands-on experiment, live demonstration, interactions, extempore speech and a quiz competition.
- 22nd-23rd July: The Department of Economics, SAC under the aegis of IQAC, SAC for collaborating with the Department of Economics, North Eastern Hill University (NEHU) successfully hosted a Two-Day Workshop on “Issues and Challenges in the Implementation of NEP, 2020 for Under- Graduate Courses in Meghalaya”. Smt. R.V Suchiang, IAS, Chief Secretary, Government of Meghalaya was the Chief Guest at the Inauguration of the Workshop and delivered the Keynote Address. Prof. S. M Sungoh, Dept. of Education, NEHU delivered a Special Address related to the theme of the Workshop. The Resource Persons of the various sessions of the workshop were Prof. Ram B. Ramachandran, Professor and Vice Dean, Jindal School of Banking and Finance, OP Jindal Global University; Prof. Clement D Souza, Dean School of Humanities, St. Joseph’s University, Bangalore and Shri Debashish Chowdhury OSD, Examinations. Prof. P. Nayak, Prof. K. S Rajput, Prof. B. Panda & Prof. S.Umdor chaired the various sessions of the workshop.
- 23rd-25th August: The Home Guards and Civil Defence, East Khasi Hill District in collaboration with the Department of Geology & Department of Environmental Science, St. Anthony’s College conducted a training exercise and mock drill to create awareness on and prepare all stakeholders for any disasters that may occur in the future. This included providing guidance to people in case of an emergency, administering first-aid, and carrying out rescue operations.
- 24th September: The Department of Khasi organised a poetry workshop on the topic, “Kumno ban Thoh Poitri”. The resource person was Prof. Kynpham Singh Nongkynrih. Department of English, NEHU.
- 27th September: The St. Anthony’s College Tourism Club, (SACTC) commemorated World Tourism Day, having as its theme, Rethinking Tourism. As a part of this programme four exciting events were organised by the club to commemorate the day and also celebrate 75 years of India’s Independence for which an Inter-School Art Competition was conducted and an Inter-College T Shirt Design Competition was also organised to commemorate Meghalaya’s 50 years of statehood. Alongside there was an Intra-College Salad Dressing Competition and Cultural Food Fest were also organised as part of the event, all of which evoked an overwhelming response from schools and colleges of the town.
- 3rd November: The Department of Political Science, SAC successfully hosted the Inter-Department Debate Competition in observance of Vigilance Awareness Week 2022(from 31st October- 6th November, 2022), having as its theme ‘Corrupt Free India for a Developed Nation.’ The motion of the debate is ‘Corruption is the Root Cause of Underdevelopment in India’
- 5th November: The Department of English hosted the Twelfth Rev. Fr. Noel Joseph Kenny Memorial Lecture on the theme “How to Understand and Appreciate Poetry” which is one of the significant aspects in the study of Literature. The Resource Person, Prof. Kynpham S. Nongkynrih, Department of English, North Eastern Hill University.
- 9th November: The Department of Economics, SAC conducted a Career and Professional Enrichment Programme on “Potential Professions and Skills for UG Students of Economics” for students of the Department. Shri Greville Kharlukhi, Assistant General Manager, NABARD enlightened the students on available avenues and institutions for students who want to pursue higher studies both at the national and international level, also touching upon career options for students with the subject of Economics as a background and highlighting skill enhancement programmes for students to avail for a smooth transition from education to employment and other related aspects.
- 16th November: The Department of History, SAC in collaboration with the Indian Council Historical Research (ICHR), for successfully hosting a One-Day National Seminar on “Saga of Unsung Heroes of Meghalaya”. The Chief Guest of the Inaugural Programme, was Shri Umesh Ashok Kalam. Honourable Member Secretary. Prof. Prabha Shankar Shukla, Vice Chancellor, North Eastern Hill University gave the Inaugural Address.
- 14th – 15th December: The International Conference for Bio-Diversity cum Workshop on Traditional Medicine was organized by the Departments of Zoology and Fishery Science of the college in collaboration with Bio-Resource Development Centre (BRDC), an R&D institution under Planning Department. The conference was organized to promote biodiversity and traditional medicinal practices of the region.
- The inauguration of the Fish Conservation Zone (FCZ) at Rymben River under the project "SavingThe Fish From The Mekong To Meghalaya" was held at Lapalang, a village in East Khasi Hills District,Meghalaya.
- The Northeast India Audio Visual Archive organized a two-day audio-visual exhibition at Baghmara andSiju in South Garo Hills, Meghalaya.
- A Guest Lecture on 'Earthquake detection through remote sensing and total electron content (TEC) with special reference to N.E. India' was organised by the Department of Geology.
- The Camp Mode Aadhaar Enrolment Drive was organised by the Aadhaar Enrolment Centre, Office of the Deputy Commissioner, East Khasi Hills District, Meghalaya in collaboration with the Department of Political Science.
- The Department of English, St. Anthony's College hosted an Online Guest Lecture on the topic "Shakespeare's Clowns with reference to Feste".
- The Department of Value Education organised an online webinar for the students of the college with the topic"Living in Hope".
- Dr. Kara Heiman Shen from the Department of Political Science retired from active service.
- Three non-teaching staff namely Mr. John Dkhar, Mr. Pherbak Shadap and Mr. Dinesh C. Das retired from their active service.
- The India University and Institution Network on Disaster Risk Reduction - National Institute of Disaster Management (IUINDRR-NIDM) in collaboration with North Eastern Space Applications Centre (NE-SAC) and Department of Geology, St. Anthony's College, Shillong, Meghalaya conducted a Webinar on "Use of Science and Technology in Early Warning of Disaster in North Eastern Region of India".
- The Department of Zoology in collaboration with the Meghalaya Biodiversity Board, Govt. of Meghalaya organized two activities to commemorate the International Day for Biological Diversity 2021.
- The PG Department of Education and the Department of Statistics conducted an online Hands-On Training on MS Office Essentials and Digital Technology.
- The Department of Zoology organised a national webinar on "Wildlife of India with special reference to North East India".
- The Department of Fishery Science organised a workshop cum hands-on training on "Taxonomical Tools for Fish Identification".
- A Peer-Team Visit for Administrative Academic Audit (AAA) of the college took place.
- The Department of Mass Media in collaboration with the Meghalaya Police organised a Five-Day Basic Photography Course.
- Dr. R. N. Bhuyan from the Department of Fishery Science, Dr. K. K. Singh from the Department of Economics and Prof. Mondakini Basu from the Department of English were retired from active service.
- The Department of Value Education released several videos in the Youtube channel to cater to the mental and social well being of the students in lieu of the pandemic.
