St. Anthony's College, Shillong, Meghalaya, India, is an educational institution of the Catholic Church, belonging to and managed by the Salesians of Don Bosco Educational Society (registered under the Societies Registration Act of 1890: No. 227/91 of 199). Established in 1934 with modest beginnings, the College has since evolved into a multi- faceted and multi-faculty institution. Successively affiliated to Calcutta University, Guwahati University, and North-Eastern Hill University, its pre-eminence in higher education in North- East India has been reflected in repeated offers of autonomous status from the University Grants Commission. With over 280 teaching and support staff, the College caters to more than 5,500 students, offering traditional programs in Arts, Science, and Commerce—twenty- seven (28) undergraduate programs with twenty-four (24) Honours options—and four (4) postgraduate programs in Computer Applications, Biotechnology, Education, and Political Science, along with Postgraduate Diploma and globally certified courses. St. Anthony's is a microcosm of the North-East and stands as a vibrant example of national integration at its finest.

The College has been reaccredited with "A" grade by NAAC in 2008 with CGPA of 3.60/4.0, making the college the highest graded in the East and North East of the Country. It was re- accredited with a B++ grade by NAAC in 2022. The College is also recognized as a College with Potential for Excellence (CPE) by the UGC, and was recently ranked 287 by the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) out of 3,371 participating colleges. It has also been recognized and awarded as a Centre under the DST-FIST (Department of Science and Technology – Fund for Improvement in S&T Infrastructure; Project No. SR/FST/COLLEGE-2020-1000 (C)) since 2021. This has significantly enhanced its research infrastructure through funding from the DST-FIST program, improving its research capabilities, attracting fresh talent, and promoting advanced studies across various disciplines.

Guided by the religious and educational philosophy of St. John Bosco, and born of the vision of a Don Bosco Father, Fr. Joseph Bacchiarello, St. Anthony's College was founded in 1934 with the avowed mission of 'bringing college education within the reach of common man and woman. Ever since, the College has been nurtured by the Salesians of Don Bosco to be in the vanguard of higher education in North-East India.

We seek to provide quality education for all sections of society reaching out especially to the socially, economically, culturally, and educationally disadvantaged. Our system embodies a participatory style of management, always alive to emerging needs and challenges, where a sense of belonging and ownership is shared and where exists regular interaction between the different constituents involved, so that education becomes the responsibility of a community comprising teachers, parents, students and management.
