Summary of the 5-Day Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on Teaching Economics for the NEHU Four Year Undergraduate Programme (FYUP) under National Education Policy (NEP) 2020
22nd to 26th July, 2024.

The 5-Day Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on Teaching Economics for the NEHU Four Year Undergraduate Programme under NEP 2020 was organized by the Department of Economics, St. Anthony’s College, Shillong, in collaboration with the Department of Economics, North Eastern Hill University (NEHU), and Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), St. Anthony’s College, Shillong, from 22nd to 26th July, 2024.

The programme aimed to equip educators with the skills and knowledge necessary to effectively deliver the newly restructured Economics curriculum, aligning with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

The programme saw active participation from 44 faculty members, and 11 esteemed resource persons, representing 29 colleges and institutions across Meghalaya, including districts such as West Garo Hills, East Garo Hills, North Garo Hills, South Garo Hills, South-West Khasi Hills, East Khasi Hills, Ri Bhoi, and West Jaintia Hills.

The workshop spanned five days, each focusing on different components of the Economics curriculum to ensure comprehensive coverage and in-depth exploration of each paper. The daily schedule included instructional sessions, discussions, and practical applications. Additionally, panel discussions provided valuable insights and practical strategies.

The FDP has been an invaluable initiative, aligning the Department of Economics’ teaching practices with the goals of NEP 2020. It has provided innovative pedagogical strategies, practical applications, and a deeper understanding of the updated Economics syllabus. Above all, it has brought together experiences and ideas from different colleges and institutes spread across all corners of Meghalaya. Together, we are better prepared to inspire and educate the next generation of economists.
