The Department of Geology, St. Anthony’s College, Shillong, in collaboration with Geological Survey of India, NER (GSI, NER), organized an awareness programme on “Swacchata Hi Seva 2025” and the harmful effects of plastic use on 23rd September 2025. The event aimed to promote cleanliness and highlight plastic pollution’s environmental impacts while fostering civic responsibility. The programme began with an inauguration and welcome address by Head of the Department Dr. V. Jennifer Joan Wallang, Followed by an address by Dr. Nengthoujam Surdas Singh, Director of GSI NER, outlining the national “Swachhata Hi Seva” campaign and its link to sustainable development, emphasizing public participation in combating plastic pollution.
