The Faculty Development Programme (FDP) commenced at 9:30 a.m. with a solemn inaugural session. The programme began with a prayer led by the Rector, Fr. A L Jose, SDB invoking guidance and wisdom for meaningful academic engagement. Following this, the Vice Principal, Fr. Gervasius Nongkseh SDB formally welcomed the participants and introduced the theme of the FDP, emphasising the need for reflective, learner-centred, and outcome-oriented teaching practices in contemporary higher education.
As part of the inaugural academic exercise, a pre-survey was conducted to assess faculty members’ existing pedagogical practices, familiarity with Outcome-Based Education (OBE), curriculum design, assessment alignment, and use of active learning strategies. The survey aimed to identify training needs and served as a baseline to contextualise the FDP sessions. Insights from the survey were later used to anchor discussions and activities throughout the day.
