International Conference on Literature, Community and Culture 2024.
26th & 27th September, 2024

The International Conference on Literature, Community and Culture, held on 26th and 27th of September, 2024 at St. Anthony’s College, Shillong, was organised by the Department of English, St. Anthony’s College in collaboration with the Departments of History and Khasi. It is sponsored by the North Eastern Council, Government of India, the Meghalayan Age Limited, ICSSR-NERC, the Department of Arts and Culture, Government of Meghalaya and supported by the Northeast India Audio Visual Archive, St. Anthony’s College, Shillong. The conference brought together many scholars and academicians from different areas of specialisation to share their perspectives on different aspects of literature, community and culture. The conference is held in a hybrid mode encouraging participants to present in both the online and onsite mode. A total of four venues were engaged for the technical sessions alone and a total of 102 participants presented their papers. Thus, sessions were conducted simultaneously in all the mentioned venues. The conference saw the engagement of participants from diverse locations and sessions were moderated by esteemed scholars and veterans in the relevant fields. The Plenary Speakers at the conference were the acclaimed Prof. Ganesh N. Devy and Prof. K. Suneetha Rani. Moreover, the conference also successfully engaged the youth of the region in discussing and debating matters pertaining to the meaning and use of literature in relation to the dynamic nature of politics, culture and community. The Conference had other components such exhibitions, poster competition, workshop and book-stalls curated for the particular interest of the ICLCC.
